The Hanbury Club, 15 September
Idaho-born Ritter brings his warm and engaging treasure chest of folk music to Brighton and the gorgeous surrounds of the Hanbury Club.
Ritter has been writing and performing for a decade now, but 2007’s “The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter” marked an evolution to a more raggedy, full-band sound in places, as on “To the Dogs or Whoever” while maintaining all the old delicacy of tracks like “Girl in the War”.
Ritter is darkness and light intertwined, combining Dylanesque lyrical flourishes with melodic charm.
