The Great Escape Festival and War child will be hosting Friday night’s headliner Wild Beasts at Brighton Dome. The critically acclaimed indie four-piece will be revealing songs from newly released fourth album “Present Tense”, along with an array of their heterogeneous hits.
With four commended albums, Wild Beasts are a band that thrives off experimentation and variation. Every effort explores different genres and instruments in a way that presents them as fresh and endearing with each release. Their eclectic and lurid sounds are reminiscent of Arcade Fire mixed with more glitchy electronics.
Through the new album taking influences from 80’s synth pop and electronica, their latest effort is a more vivacious and upbeat enhancement of their previous work. Singles such as “Wanderlust” and “Sweet Spot” present a band with more attitude than before, as opposed to pantomime-infused wonder.
Their hypnotising live set is dramatized by the opulent falsettos of singers Hayden Thorpe and Tom Fleming, a duo whose vocal range remains peerless. This and their instrumental flamboyancy produce a truly captivating performance. With support from These New Puritans and Adult Jazz, this is sure to be one of the festival’s ‘moments’.
£1.00 of every ticket to this show sold will be donated to War Child.
Starts 7.30pm, tickets £19 in adv from brightondome.org
