Girls’ Generation – I Got A Boy – Tuesday January 1

Psy isn’t the only export the Korean music industry has to offer – Girls’ Generation, a 9-strong line-up first formed in 2007 have topped the South Korean charts, broken into the Japanese music scene in 2010 and struck out west, securing Interscope Records – who’s stable of artists includes Lady Gaga, and the Black Eyed Peas – for their debut Western album, The Boys which launched simultaneously in the Americas and Europe. Their sound, at least in the East, is a mix of electro and kitsch pop, sometimes bordering on disco, and is lively and upbeat. They’re reminiscent of The Pussycat Dolls, Britney Spears and slight tones of Madonna / Lady Gaga.

The album when released will be available with 10 different covers, 1 for each of the 9 band members, and a single sleeve which features a group shot.  All of the albums will also include a poster featuring all of the girls.

The first single from the album, seen below, is a cover of Duffy’s smash Mercy, given their own edge and approach. Whilst it will likely receive a makeover for their English market, for now you get to enjoy the sensations from the native tongue.
