Brighton band The Special Ks will treat hometown fans to a free gig next week at the Pav Tav.  The five-some formed having met as students studying at the renown Brighton Institute of Modern Music (BIMM), and their increasingly busy band schedules led them to becoming full time musicians and taking to life on the road.

The end of 2008 saw The Special Ks beat over 3000 acts to win the O2 Academy unsigned band competition. The final was held at London’s (ex) Carling Academy venue where the band performed followed by a trip to The Maldives where they headlined Breakout Festival which was broadcast both on MTV and AOL giving them their first major exposure. The lads are currently in the studio with producer Julian Simmons (The Guillemots) recording their debut album set for release next year.

The Special Ks will play with Son Of Robot and Way Tangent at Friday Fight Night at the Pav Tav on the 13th of November 2009. The boxing themed event will feature pop corn machines, ring girls, arm wrestling competitions and ridiculously cheap drink deals on top of a full fantastic live set by three great bands.
