Single: Jumping Ships – “The Bad Outweighed The Good”

Brighton has actually done pretty damn well when it comes to homegrown/Brighton-based talent. Bat For Lashes, Fatboy Slim and Mr Scruff to name but a few. Dare I say it, we also boast a huge array of indie acts which is more of a debatable thing when it comes to Brightonian Pride.

The Kooks, actually, are from Lewes thanks. But hear this, there are some too big for their haircut bands out there who think they’ve made it already so it’s very refreshing to find a band with their own (haunting) sound and genuinely humble nature that are doing well.

Jumping Ships, who have been together a year or two, have been celebrating recently over their appearance in NME, the release of their single ‘The Bad Outweighed The Good’ and the almost-completion of ‘Orientation’, the debut album which is set to be released early 2010. Even people who don’t like their sort of music (if they have a sort) seem to actually quite like what they’re doing, and having watched them from the start it’s nice to see their sound still developing freely and their dimples shining.
