Tour the unique and quirky city of Brighton led by a born and bred Brightonian with 480 years of Brighton ancestry. % of tips to charity.

Price: Free (tips based).   Time: Wed – Sun 11am (8/4/2023 – 29/10/2023). Language: English.

Why was Brighton’s palace built like an Indian mosque? Why did people paint the sea green? Why did tourists drink sea water and even mix it with milk? Wives for sale, a railway in the sea, a useless king and a war hospital with chandeliers, the Free Brighton Walking Tour has it all. Plus see the universe’s oldest electric railway, the world’s first vertical cable car and England’s most instagrammed sight outside of London.

Highlights:

  • Brighton i360
  • The West Pier
  • Brighton Palace Pier
  • Volk’s railway
  • The Old Steine
  • The Lanes
  • The Brighton Dome
  • The Royal Pavilion

About me

My name is Nat and I love Brighton: its life, its quirkiness, the taste of salt from the sea which makes we want to eat fish and chips. I was born and grew up in Brighton and after exploring places all over the world returned here for my Master’s degree. And despite that I am still discovering new things!

I love history and Brighton has plenty of it. As a boy I loved exploring palaces, castles and piers and telling people the stories of them, and not much has changed. I studied several history modules at university, have three years experience giving tours and you’ll still find me engrossed in a lecture on the history of William of Orange, Waterloo, or the Wars of the Roses.

And last, but certainly not least, I love meeting people. And what better way than to offer Free Brighton Walking Tours.
