This yearly tradition has always caused a stir on the streets of Brighton, with each event getting ever more extravagant than the last. The event was started in 1994 as a symbol to mark the end of the year. Every member of the public (regardless of race or creed) is invited to create their own paper lantern or clock to be paraded onto the seafront and ceremoniously thrown onto the bonfire. Sadly, last years event was a bit of a wash out, with hoards of friends and family’s braving the rain to maintain this wonderful tradition. Lets hope this year’s is a crisp one!
6.30pm, free, event culminates on Madeira Drive
